A Legacy Evolving

Black Ochre Training is a proud Registered Training Organisation (RTO) delivering nationally accredited programs that honour Aboriginal knowledge systems and cultural ways of learning. Previously trading as Spirit Dreaming, we carry forward our commitment to culturally grounded, strength-based education with a renewed focus and an expanded course offering.

What We Do

We specialise in accredited training that uplifts individuals, organisations, and communities. Our training is built on lived experience, cultural wisdom, and professional excellence – empowering learners to lead change with confidence and integrity.

Why Are We Different

Black Ochre is proud to be the only Registered Training Organisation (RTO) in Australia offering accredited training specifically in Aboriginal Kinship Assessing and Aboriginal Cultural Planning. This is a significant achievement that reflects Black Ochre’s deep commitment to cultural integrity, community-led practice, and strengthening outcomes for Aboriginal children and families.

Now Offering 6 New Units!

We’re excited to launch six accredited units, designed to meet the evolving needs of community services, education, and child protection sectors. These units are grounded in cultural safety, practical skills, and deep respect for Aboriginal ways of knowing, being and doing.

Black Ochre’s training equips learners with the essential skills and understanding needed to:

  • Conduct culturally appropriate kinship assessments that respect traditional systems of care.

  • Develop and implement genuine Aboriginal Cultural Support Plans that reflect the child’s identity, belonging, and lifelong connections to Country, kin, and community.

  • Challenge deficit-based systems and embed Aboriginal-led solutions into child protection and out-of-home care practice.

In a landscape where Aboriginal children remain drastically over-represented in out-of-home care, Black Ochre is leading the way in reshaping how systems respond—through education that is authentically Aboriginal, community-informed, and future-focused.

By choosing Black Ochre, organisations and individuals are not only upskilling their workforce—they are walking alongside a movement for justice, healing, and self-determination.
